Rest Without Guilt: A Lesson from My Week of Doing Nothing

Last month, I sat at my desk staring at an email. I must have read it five times and still couldn’t absorb the words.
Something in me whispered: Go home.
Old me would have ignored it. She would have powered through, replying to a few more emails, maybe even taking work home “just to catch up”.
But that day, I chose differently.
I left at lunchtime. I came home and slept for three hours. I did that for five days. And I didn’t feel guilty.
Why This Matters
Rest isn’t a reward for finishing your to-do list it’s a requirement for you to lead, create, and care.
I’ve learnt that leading from regulation means listening to my body and acting before I hit breaking point. It’s not weakness. It’s wisdom.
If you’re feeling the pull to stop even for a moment trust that it’s not laziness. It’s your body asking to come home.
